I am writing to say how thankful I was to take Mary Huntsberry’s Helping Pets Behave classes. Over the years I had taken classes from pet stores, read books from the library and watched TV shows but none of the information made as much sense to me as the instruction I have received from Mary’s classes. She not only teaches the skills but explains why they will work.
My dogs Lucy and Gracie, ages 7 and 6, freaked out, barking and pulling towards other people and dogs constantly. I had given up on going for walks in my neighborhood and didn’t know how I would ever be able to take them camping and not be asked to leave the campgrounds because of the behavior.
Mary’s classes are small with no more than 4 dogs in a class which allows for a lot of individual attention! She explains and demonstrates each skill and individualizes instruction for you and your dog while keeping the end goals intact. She is an expert on knowing your dog’s personality from their behavior, and teaches what cues to look for from your dog. You learn how to make the best choices to encourage the behavior you want so your dog is more comfortable when they encounter the unexpected from other dogs and people.
Mary sends out a detailed email after each class containing all the information covered so you can practice during the week between classes and use the skills.
I was amazed when my girls went from pulling and constant barking to passing other dogs without getting upset.
I am thrilled to share that we were able to go camping on three separate trips this summer and we were all Happy Campers!
I look forward to taking more classes from Mary in the future! Can’t wait!
