Best Friends Forever Conference - Day 1
At the Best Friends Forever Conference in Exton, PA. Dr. Patricia McConnell, CAAB, started off the conference with her keynote address on emotion in animals. The brains of dogs and humans have the same components and functions. Given this, it makes sense that a dog can be fearful, angry, or happy.
Nancy Williams gave 2 talks today. The first was on communicative signals of dogs. Among growling and chemical signaling, Nancy talked about the role of barking in dog-dog commuication. It’s amazing! That’s exactly what I’ve been posting about! Her second talk was on aggression between family dogs. There’s soo much that can go wrong when you bring your second or third dog into the house. Fortunately there’s a lot that can be done to help.
Up next is Suzanne Hetts’ talk on data collection…looking forward to it!
